Liquid Metal starts as separate blobs of mercury that flow toward each other, merge on contact, and resolve into letterforms with a reflective surface.
The merge is a genuine gooey-filter chain rather than a cross-fade: feGaussianBlur spreads each blob, feColorMatrix sharpens the alpha into a hard threshold, and feBlend recombines them, so two blobs that touch actually fuse into one outline. Driven by SMIL so the flow paths stay independent of CSS timing.
The same merge technique with opposite intent. Liquid Metal is cold, reflective and precise; Jelly is warm, matte and wobbles after it lands.
